The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reinforced security efforts in Kebbi State with the deployment of two additional Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs).
The APCs were formally handed over to Governor Nasir Idris on Monday by the State Commissioner of Police, Bello Muhammad Sani, during a brief ceremony at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
This was contained in a statement by the Governors Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki on Monday.
He said Governor Idris hailed the development as a significant boost in the fight against insecurity, particularly in areas most affected by banditry.
“If you recall, not long ago, the Police authorities under the IGP, alongside the military, deployed Armoured Personnel Carriers to Kebbi State, we remain grateful,” the Governor stated.
He noted that the new deployment comes at a critical time when the rainy season and farming activities are at their peak, offering protection to farmers and rural communities vulnerable to attacks.
The governor also reiterated his administration’s readiness to continue working closely with security agencies.
He emphasized that the vehicles had arrived at a crucial time, with the rainy season and farming activities at their peak, providing the much-needed security to protect farmers from bandit attacks.
While thanking the IGP and the Police Headquarters, Governor Idris pledged “unwavering commitment and support” to all security operations in the state.
