A faculty officer at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, AAUA, Ondo State, Omoniyi Eleyinmi, has been freed nearly one week after he was kidnapped.

Eleyinmi, who serves in the university’s Department of Education, regained his freedom on Sunday evening.

His release was confirmed by a colleague at the institution, who expressed gratitude for his safe return.

According to a family source, the abductors released Eleyinmi after receiving a significant ransom. He was reportedly freed in a community close to the Ondo State boundary.

“My brother, a ransom was raised and paid to the kidnappers before they could release him to us,” the source disclosed.

Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said he could not immediately verify the development but assured that an update would be provided in due course.

DAILY POST reports that Eleyinmi was abducted last Monday while on his way home to Supare-Akoko after closing from work.
