Yobe State Police Command has condemned the recent farmland dispute that resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to two others in Gulani local government area of the state.

The Command, through its Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, while reacting to the ugly development, noted that the conflict began last year during the farming season and had been escalating despite efforts by the Command to facilitate resolution through the State Boundary Adjustment Committee.

“On August 9, 2025, at about 2330 hours, the Bara Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call from the Village Head of Zango, Gulani LGA, reporting a brutal attack by miscreants from Azere Village, Gujba LGA.

“The attack, sparked by a dispute over farmland, resulted in the deaths of Sani Makeri, 40, and Abdullahi Maicitta, 35, both of Zango.

“Zango and Azare Villages lie between the boundaries of Gujba and Gulani LGA,” the command said.

According to the command, its operatives swiftly responded, evacuated the slain, and rushed the injured to a specialist hospital in Damaturu.

It further stated that the survivors were receiving treatment, while the perpetrators fled the scene.

“The Command has commenced a manhunt for the assailants”, it said.
