The Israel Defense Forces, IDF, announced today that its troops have killed a Hamas sniper who wounded an Israeli soldier during operations in the northern Gaza Strip yesterday.

The sniper was located and eliminated by soldiers from the 401st Armored Brigade, operating under the 162nd Division, the military said. The soldier injured in the attack sustained light wounds.

According to the IDF, the targeted strike was part of a wider campaign in Gaza coordinated with Military Intelligence and the Shin Bet security agency.

In the north, the 215th Artillery Regiment also identified and killed Hamas operatives to support advancing ground forces.

Elsewhere, the 36th Division reported destroying major underground infrastructure and killing militants in the Khan Younis area, while the 99th Division dismantled tunnel shafts near Israeli communities along the Gaza border.

In southern Gaza, the 143rd Division’s 6th Brigade directed an Air Force strike against a terror cell attempting to plant explosives, killing all members of the group.

The IDF said operations across the Strip remain focused on dismantling Hamas’s military capabilities and preventing future attacks on Israeli forces.
